Rule Change for the Long Boat class

New Hull rules for Long boat for the World Surf Kayak Championships 2009 following the Bakio Proposal.

“Long Boat: No fins allowed. The hull may be flat, concave, or convex in the cross section. Concave sections must be no deeper than 1 cm when measured perpendicular from a meter stick placed across the hull. The hull shape must be a continuous radius - no steps, channels, or ridges are allowed. The radii may vary over the entire length of the hull. There are no additional restrictions on deck design, hull radii or seat location. The kayak can have up to 4 fin boxes, as long as there are no fins in them. Fin boxes must be covered OR empty, and may be no longer than 25 cm and no wider than 2 cm”

The World’s Committee will have the final decision on any dispute, based upon whether any non-conformance is due to a bad repair/warp or a deliberate attempt to break/bend the rules.
